Stan Hansen vs Tsuyochi Kikuchi (All Japan February 2nd, 1992)

Found a great youtube channel full of AJPW early 90's matches. Kikuchi tries to ambush Hansen. Which is a gamble, but his only hope of winning.

Hansen beats him senseless, suplexing and power bombing him on the guard rails. Kikuchi manages to get in a good shot or two. Hansen gets pissed enough to use the Boston Crab to win.

Vladimir Kozlov vs Stevie Richards (Smackdown! 7/11/08)

Two of my favorites and two of the best at the sub five minute TV match. Stevie gets some offense and looks credible against Kozlov, before getting cut down.

Diamond Dallas Page vs Kanyon Superbrawl

This match is from Super Brawl Revenge. Very underrated show from the dying days of the WCW.

It is suppose to be DDP vs Jarrett, but DDP made an open challenge to Kanyon and Jarrett says Kanyon wants to fight now.

Kanyon and DDP have a hell of a match. It is a shame to see how Kanyon's career went and how it impacted his life.

A great wrestler who deserved better than he got.

Terry Taylor vs Jake Roberts

Both Taylor and Jake are good guys here. Well as much of a good guy as Jake Roberts can be. Jim Ross and Joel Watts on commentary, both do a good job on getting you up to date on the storylines here.

Dick Slater is North American Champion and says he'll defend against the number one contender. So we are having this match.

Taylor and Jake do a good job at setting a tempo. Early on, Taylor hits a five arm on Jake. Jake smartly gets to the floor.

Terry has the advantage once Jake is in the ring. One of the best things about Jake Roberts is he can take control of the match suddenly. Whether it be a knee lift or his short arm clothesline. Or he can hit the DDT suddenly,

Very much living up to the "Snake" moniker.

Match has a good finishing sequence that makes everyone look strong.

undertaker vs vladimir kozlov The Rematch.

This is the rematch with Taker and Kozlov. This time Taker goes full power on Kozlov from the start and it throws off the Russian.

This match is different than the first one. This is both guys dropping bombs. Kozlov does this really cool escape from Hell's Gate.

Matt Hardy vs Vladimir Kozlov in a Beat the Clock Match

This match is from late 08. They are doing a beat the clock challenge to determine the number one contender. Jeff Hardy has the best time and Kozlov is up next. He gets Matt Hardy (who is ECW Champion), Matt's main goal is to make sure Kozlov does not beat Jeff's time.

It is like a TV Title match with Matt trying to run the clock down. He does not try to fight Kozlov directly many times. Instead he picks his spots. The finishing sequence does a great job teasing the fans.

The Undertaker vs Vladimir Kozlov WWE Smackdown

Came across this on Youtube. I think Kozlov and Luke Gallows are my two favorite guys of the last five years.

Good cat and mouse game between Kozlov and Taker. Each realizing brute force can't work, so they focus on tactics.

Kozlov makes a basic headlock look like a finisher. Have not seen anybody work basic holds so effectively in a long time.

Finish is great and I am not going to spoil it.

Disco Inferno vs Brutus Beefcake October 99

Disco Inferno vs. Disciple by Stinger1981

Brutus comes out in his old Barber gear to take on Disco Inferno. He looks good here and works hard. He does a nice looking cross body off the second rope.

He ends up jobbing to the Disco Stunner, which shows where he was on the pecking order.

Pillman vs Mean Mark Callous

WCW Mean Mark(Undertaker) vs Pillman by Matthew_Hennigan77

Came across this earlier. Very good match with Pre Undertaker Mean Mark and Brian Pillman.

Taker has the size advantage, but Pillman is so tenacious, you buy him being able to over come the size advantage.

Taker is able to toss around Pillman with ease and block anything he throws initially.

Stuff I watched

This is a hell of a sub five minute match. Masked guys attack Nasty Boys before the bell and work over Knobbs. Dusty and Macho Man on commentary.

Stevie and Val have a kick ass match on Heat. Why the announcers actually talked about it once or twice.

Stevie is the king of the WWE B show. Leave him alone and he kicks ass. Here he calls out Raven and they have a really good five minute match that is all action. With Raven acting more like Johnny Polo/Scotty Flamingo than Raven.

Destination X 2008: Fish Market Street Fight #SHARKBOYWEEK

This is a really enjoyable comedy brawl. Team 3D have to be under a certain weight to wrestle X Division guys. They make weight somehow and start eating snack cakes.

This is a fish market street fight, so there are trays of fish up the aisle. They do a lot to get the gimmick over. The highlight being Curry Man using a ding dong on a fishing line to catch a ding dong by the name of Bubba Ray.

It was ridiculous, but Bubba was fucking starving. So get off his case.

Twin Towers vs Anthony Durante & Gary Wolfe - Wrestling Challenge March ...

The Twin Towers are facing the future Pit Bulls. Usually in these before they were famous matches, you can see a flash of something more in the jobbers. But the Pit Bulls were terrible here. I actually think Durante became really good and had a world of potential. But here he had trouble locking up.

But once the Towers got on offense it became good. Towers had really solid tag fundamentals. Using quick tags to wear out the Pit Bulls.

Undertaker vs Festus

My favorite active wrestler is probably Luke Gallows. Or as he is known now, D.O.C.

Before that he was Festus. It was a great gimmick, where once the bell rang he turned into Stan Hansen.

They put him against the Undertaker, shortly after Taker won the World Belt in 08 and it is a great brawl.

Festus keeps coming at Undertaker, no matter what Taker does. Really well done finish.

Came upon this. Fun spot match with Psicosis getting a lot of offense, which is always good.

Festus Vs Vladimir

This is a fun match. Festus is working the same gimmick Curly did in an old Three Stooges short, where a bell makes him go berserk.

Kozlov is  a Russian killing machine who no one has managed to even slow down. Festus keeps Kozlov off balance initially and Kozlov takes him to the mat. Festus fights out and Kozlov knocks him out on an attempted flying tackle.

Some Raven matches

I go back and forth on my opinion about Raven. Sometimes I think he is incredibly overrated and I really hate a lot of stuff in his original ECW run.

But watching him in WCW, the WWF and his second time in ECW, I think he could be really good. He was excellent at bumping and he really knew how to lay out a match.

I don't understand why WCW was obsessed with getting rid of masked wrestlers. To me it makes even the dullest matches more exciting.

Anyway this started the Kanyon/Raven feud. Kanyon was still working as Mortis and ambushes Raven at the beginning.

Good match that makes full use of the ring and ringside area. No real wasted movement, everything counted. Only thing that bugged me a little was the referee distraction spot in a No DQ match.

This is a match from July of the same year. I will say this much, losing the mask gave Kanyon more confidence in the ring.

Kanyon set up his offense so well. It never seemed convoluted like some guys with fancy offense.

Saturn comes into save Kanyon from the Flock and accidentally Death Valley Drivers him. Then Kanyon returns the favor after Saturn puts Raven thru the table.

This is the first tag match I watched last night. I was expecting a typical TV match from the era with Duncum and Enos more or less squashed.

Instead Enos and Duncum dominate the match and there is even a second face in peril section. Some really nice sequences in this match.

Zero-One - Masato Tanaka vs Alexander Otsuka (2003)

I came across this channel with tons of early 00's Puro. I came across this match and wanted to watch it. I have not seen a lot of Alexander Otsuka matches, but have liked what I have seen.

This match was pretty cool in general. They got across that Tanaka wanted to beat Otsuka's brains in and that Otsuka was only looking to survive.

They go outside and the referee is counting. Which throws up a warning flag for a bullshit finish.

I don't mind a count out or double count out. But I can't think of a single one I have seen in a Japan match in the 90s or 2000s.

Otherwise I thought it was cool that Otsuka was willing to settle for a tie.

Road Warriors & Johnny Ace vs Jinsei Shinzaki, Jun Akiyama & Kenta Kobashi

Match I came across on Youtube. Think this is the Roadies first match after leaving the WWF in 99. First thing I notice is how psyched Johnny Ace is to be the third man to the Road Warriors. Like he has wanted this for years.

It is so cool to see the Roadies kick some ass again. That second WWF run was brutal with LOD being treated like regular guys. Here they are full fledged ass kickers, giving Kobashi, Akiyama and Shinzaki what for.

JPN team are very good in this obviously, doing a great job eating offense and hitting their own stuff.

Highlight of the match is the three man Ace Crusher.

Roadies are a bit rusty, but they go full speed the entire time.

Umaga vs RVD 2007

WWE RAW Umaga vs Rob Van Dam by Bigredmachinefan

I remember watching this back in 07 and it catching my attention. Umaga was my favorite wrestler in the world and I have always liked Rob Van Dam.

I liked the work they did with the sleeper and Umaga hitting a sweet reversal on the outside. RVD was really effective in using the hit and run offense and the finish was great.
