Hulk-A-Thon 2 Hulk Hogan Vs Nikolai Volkoff

Tonight I'll be looking at the second match on the Real American VHS. It is Hulk Hogan vs Nicolai Volkoff on an early episode of Saturday Night's Main Event. Hulk is pissed that Volkoff keeps singing the Soviet National anthem. Though he has been doing it for at least a year at this point. So not sure why Hulk just noticed. First let me point out Volkoff's swank Soviet Army jacket.

Next this is a great performance from Nicolai. I think he gets a bad rap in general. But here he goes all out. Bumping huge for everything and hitting some big moves. Real brutal looking ax handle. Great looking back breaker.

Hogan hits a sweet looking Ax Bomber clothesline on Volkoff, and beats him from pillar to post. Interesting thing here is Hogan does not really "Hulk Up". Volkoff misses a charge in the corner and Hogan hits the Leg Drop for three.

This is a really good match and probably Nicolai's best ever.

This is a match from 1988 with Hulk facing Volkoff's tag team partner Boris Zuchov. I remember watching this when I was seven and being super excited that Hulk was wrestling on free TV. I was also afraid for him. Those two Russians might hurt him.

Hulk gets in the ring and the Commies beat him down. Hulk clangs their heads together and essentially has target practice with Zuchov. Boris gets brief Rusty Brooks offense, and Hulk says enough of that and kicks the Commie's butt. Volkoff comes in and Hulk messes him up for good measure.

Finally he beats up the Commies manager Slick, who probably did something to deserve it. Little did Hulk know this would be far from his last encounter with the Doctor of Style.
